What they did to Clinton absolutely makes my blood boil. They subpoenead the whitehouse on everything with dozens of investigations. They used the full power of the Judicial and Legislative branch to bring up any dirt they could to destroy the commander in chief and they got the right man for the job Ken Starr a sorry SOB of a investigator. The rest is history, all the investigations, tens of millions of dollars and they got him to lie about a sexual act with an intern. I've read parts of the Starr report and it reads like a porn book, it's an absolute piece of trash that is a disgrace to our founding fathers.
So, now that we have a president who has really broken the law (450 times according to a recent study) and who has all but ignored the power of the legislative branch. Who has spied on americans illegaly, sent terrorism suspects to be tortured in secret bases, manipulated the media and lied to the american public time and time again to get support for a war and about a billion other things. So where is the GOP's investigative zest now?
More below the fold...
It almost seems like it's not a big deal when this president lies to us (and this time there is real consquence) as if we are to expect it. Whether it be on the NSA warrants, Valerie Plame, War in Iraq- it has been proven that he has lied again and again.
What irony that we would find out that Bush was behind the leaking of top secret (dis-credited) information since he has come down so hard on leakers. In fact there is an intense investigation underway to find out which traitor hero of the NSA leaked that Bush was spying on americans who sent emails or phone calls overseas.
So aside from the war, spying, the lies, the leaking, extraordinary rendition, the corruption- KATRINA- What troubles me the most. Global Warming. As a meteorologist I have an intense interest in the study of atmospheric science and climate change and everything I have seen has led me to believe that we are in a seriously dangerous path towards warming.
Oil Companies (Exxon, Chevron, et cetera) have spent over 100 million dollars funding fraudulent studies over the last ten years to make global warming appear as if it was still being debated. This hasn't been the case in the REAL scientific community were absolute consensus was reached from the DATA---- which really speaks for itself.
The dats shows that since 1920 the earth has warmed at an incredible curve compared to any other period of the last 100,000-1 million years. The oil companies hired media organizations and made non-profits to float the idea that people are in-significant and that this is all a natural fluctuation.
The scary part is we are actually already seeing the effects from global warming in drought, intense heatwaves and stronger hurricanes. Not to mention increased ice melt which could put parts of the world underwater.
So, our president isn't convinced. If there was ever an important decision for a president to make for our future it would be this, instead he rolled back environmental regulations and went for his Texas style (you regulate yourself).
