I read in the
NYTimes today that Cheney thinks that Lamont's defeat of Lieberman aided the terrorists.
[Cheney] cast Mr. Lieberman's loss in ominous terms, suggesting that it would hearten American terrorist enemies. Terrorists, he said, are "betting on the proposition that ultimately they can break the will of the American people in terms of our ability to stay in the fight and complete the task.
"And when we see the Democratic Party reject one of its own, a man they selected to be their vice presidential nominee just a few short years ago, it would seem to say a lot about the state the party is in today."
Well you know what I think? I think that Dick Cheney and George Bush aided the terrorists when they decided to invade Iraq, and I think that they are continuing to aid them today by not withdrawing our troops. And I also think that Democrats should be saying so at every opportunity.
more on the flip ...
Obviously Cheney is full of shit. Terrorists don't give a crap about CT-Sen and Cheney is a complete wanker for suggesting otherwise. However, since the Republicans have nothing positive to say about themselves, this is about the only message that they can try to sell to the public to keep Congress in Republican hands this year.
This got me to thinking. What would the Democrats be saying about the Republicans if Karl Rove were running the show for us intead of the other side? And the answer is, he would be saying that the Republicans themselves are actually the ones aiding the terrorists, not vice versa.
And the good news for us is that this would be a much easier case to make to the public than the case that the Democrats are pro-terrorist. Just to take a few examples:
- Terrorists are getting valuable training experience in Iraq that they could use against us one day.
- After removing military resources from Afghanistan for the Iraq war, the Taliban is newly resurgent and taking over the country.
- Our military is growing weaker by the day.
- Terrorist recruitment is way up due to hatred about our Middle East policies.
This is just the beginning of the list, of course. If we wanted, we would probably come up with a new justification about how Bush is aiding the terrorists in every news cylcle. Kinda like Cheney, you know.
Why aren't we doing that? Why aren't we using their one "strength" against them?
