Crowded Field Vying For Idaho Congressional Seat
By Elizabeth Wynne Johnson
BOISE, ID 2006-08-15 The race is on for Idaho's open seat in Congress. And though Idaho is one of the most conservative states in the nation, there's growing buzz that a Democrat just might have a shot this year. So what gives? Correspondent Elizabeth Wynne Johnson has this look at the shifting sands in Idaho's top midterm race.
I'd recommend checking out the entire script, available thanks to Oregon Public Broadcasting:

People who have followed the race are familer with the Cook Political Report and how it has followed this race. The story leads with this quote from Amy Walter of the Cook Political Report:
Amy Walter: "Every year we have a surprise district, where the overall makeup of the district would suggest that it's safely in the hands of one party or the other. And then something happens that makes it not so safe."Walter is senior editor of the Washington, DC-based Cook Political Report, a source of non-partisan election analysis. She's among those who say the long-standing Republican lock on Idaho's congressional delegation may be in question.
This race has the potential to be the sleeper race of the season.
