Voter fraud?
Just one more reason that Tom Feeney has got to go.
So alleges Clint Curtis, Democratic challenger for Florida's Congressional District 24.
As a self-proclaimed loather of Tom Feeney, after listening to a recent interview of Curtis, I had to ask myself:
"Why haven't Floridians heard more about this guy and his story?"
Feeney is definitely a certifiable unethic and on the DeLay take. But Curtis claims the man (and I use that term loosely) as instrumental in ensuring voter fraud through technological advances.
Curtis alleges that:
"In September of 2000, Clint was first introduced to Tom Feeney the incoming Speaker of the Florida House. He was a programmer at Yang Enterprises, a company whose owner was an associate and confidant of Mr. Feeney.
Initially Clint was impressed. Growing up in Illinois, Clint identified with the Republican party. Since his values were older, more conservative and based on ethics and integrity; the political climate in Illinois in the 60's and 70's made that a Republican attribute. In Illinois it was always the Democrats under Mayor Daley that were engaged in corrupt behavior. While not an active Republican, Clint expected that Mr. Feeney would share those values.
He does not.
As he sat in on meetings between the owner and Mr. Feeney, Clint quickly discovered that Mr. Feeney was the most corrupt and unethical person he had ever met. Tom Feeney is the poster boy for political corruption.
In a fairly early meeting Mr. Feeney requested a prototype program that would allow for elections to be invisibly rigged. Clint delivered the program to the owner believing the prototype was to be used in some way to prevent election fraud. That was until the owner informed him that it was to be used to "control the vote in South Florida."
In subsequent meetings Feeney continued to discuss unethical and illegal aspirations. Clint resigned from the company and moved to Tallahassee. After confirming the illegal activity on the part of his former company and Tom Feeney (including espionage activity), he notified the proper authorities."
A brief timeline of events is offered by Shakespeare's Sister:
Clint Curtis has also alleged, most recently in a 2004 sworn affidavit, that he:
..."designed and built a "vote rigging" software program at the behest of then Florida Congressman, now U.S. Congressman, Republican Tom Feeney of Florida's 24th Congressional District ... in 2000 while working ... as technical advisor and programmer at Yang Enterprises, Inc.
...Feeney, who had run in 1994 as Jeb Bush's running-mate in his initial unsuccessful bid for Florida Governor ... inquired whether the company could build a "vote fraud software prototype.
...Curtis says that Feeney "was very specific in the design and specifications required for this program.
...He detailed, in his own words, that; (a) the program needed to be touch-screen capable (b) the user should be able to trigger the program without any additional equipment (c) the programming to accomplish this needed to stay hidden even if the source code was inspected.
...Upon delivery of the software design and documentation on CD to Mrs. Yang, Curtis again explained to her that it would be impossible to hide routines created to manipulate the vote if anybody would be able to inspect the precompiled source code.
Mrs. Yang then told him, "You don't understand, in order to get the contract we have to hide the manipulation in the source code. This program is needed to control the vote in South Florida." [emphasis in affidavit]
Tom Feeney has categorically denied all charges made by Curtis and has refused to comment on the record about any of the allegations beyond telling MSNBC that "Curtis has defamed a lot of people".
On the contrary, the bulk of Curtis' claims have so far been proven truthful and legitimate based on a multitude of hard evidence obtained from public documents, court records, newspaper accounts, emails and other materials from a long three year paper trail, as reported by The Brad Blog.
The BB further states "statement after statement made by Feeney, YEI and their attorneys on this matter have turned out to be demonstrably untrue and incorrect based on documented evidence as reported..."
Dr. Andy Michaud, also a Democratic candidate for Congressional seat District 24, sums it up best.
"It's time for a change."
You better believe it.
Vote Feeney out.
