It generally takes so long for a reply to come back from Senators I write to that by the time I get their reply, I have forgotten that I ever wrote to them in the first place. Well I certainly remember the letters I sent concerning certain ostensibly Democratic senators supporting Lieberman in spite of the fact that the Democrats in CT made their choice loud and clear. One of the main targets of my ire was that reprobate Pryor. Today I got a letter back from Senator Mark Pryor. His reply is below the fold.
What a cretin. Pryor replied to my letter in which I expressed the objective fact that the Democrats decided on Lamont. Period. Here is his reply:
Senator Lieberman is the Ranking Democratic Member on the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee, on which I sit. I have worked closely with Senator Lieberman in this capacity, and I know how committed he is to representing the citizens of Connecticut and the country. He has the intellect, motivation and experience to enhance the Senate debate on many important issues such as the war in Iraq, the recovery effort along the Gulf Coast, and lobbying reform.
Good gawd, how can he write this shit? How can he sign his name to this? The war in Iraq (NO Senator Pryor, the occupation of Iraq is what we have, not a war, and Lieberman is dead wrong about how swimmingly it is going there...and so, apparently, are you). The recovery effort along the Gulf Coast?! Lobbying reform?! Who is it that is funding...heavily...Lieberman's attempt to end-run the Democratic party voters of Connecticut?
I believe that it is in the best interest of this nation to keep Senator Lieberman in the Senate. However, Connecticut voters will decide the outcome of the general election, and I will respect their decision and welcome a new member to the Senate if my colleague is not re-elected.
The gall!. "Connecticut voters will decide..."? They already did and Lieberman lost. Lieberman is now running as the lead of a new "political party" and getting particularly cozy with the GOP! Not only does Pryor apparently know better who should represent the Democrats and the rest of Connecticut than the primary voters themselves, it is in their best interests, and in the nation's best interest, to have a creature like Lieberman in the senate who spouts, verbatum, GOP talking points.
People, honestly, Pryor must become a priority to unseat in his primary. He is unfit to serve in the senate at all, let alone as a so-called Democrat. He is what is worst, literally and without question, about what has been the flaccid and useless leadership of the Democratic party. Lieberman must be only the beginning. Pryor must go.
