I received a fundraising letter from the DCCC today that had the slogan "We Democrats Need to Help Each Other". Perhaps you received the same fundraising appeal?
Unfortunately, at the present time I can't in good conscience suport the DCCC with any more donations due to the organization's
advanced cluelessness regarding the CT Senatorial race and its effects on the House campaigns. This was my response, handwritten and tucked into the business reply envelope (I was nice enough to use a stamp):
Dear Minority Leader Pelosi,
Your note asking for my donation says that Democrats need to help each other, I agree, which is why I am puzzled that the DCCC hasn't loudly called for Joe Lieberman to drop out of the Connecticut Senate race. We have a Democrat in that race and his name is Ned Lamont.
If we want to win the House in November (which if I recall correctly, would make you Speaker of the House) then picking up Connecticut's three Republican seats is a must. Lieberman's pathetic campaign is predicated upon motivating the Republican vote. Without motivating his Republican base he doesn't have a prayer and I simply can't imagine any scenario where motivating the Republican base is a keen strategy for Democrats trying to win races down-ticket.
Until I hear a definitive statement from the DCCC pressuring Lieberman to step aside, then it's clear to me that you're not serious about winning back the House. And until you're serious, I will find places where my money can be put to better use.
