I really want Ned Lamont to win tomorrow, and I think if he does, it will be by a very narrow margin. However, he might lose. It would be easy to be disappointed if he does, and I expect we'll feel let down by CT voters. However, even if Lieberman does take it, I will still consider this race to be a winner for us.
See why below...
Quite simply, Lamont's run has proved that we cannot be ignored any longer. It has showed that a true progressive can be open and assertive and effectively threaten the incumbency of establishment politicians. More importantly, Ned has been the latest torchbearer for an increasingly unstoppable progressive revolution in this country.
If Ned takes in fewer votes, do not despair! He has been one more powerful wave against the crumbling bulwark of the DLC fortress. Every candidate like Lamont that comes forward and speaks truth to power, offers a vision of positive change, and projects confidence, competence, and humor chips away at a rotting foundation of DC-insider capitulation, cowardice, and cynicism. If Ned loses, he will still have made it that much easier for the next progressive warrior to break through. And break through we will!
But you know what? I think Ned is going to win.
