How do we use 'wedge' politics to fight back?
This may sound a little, well nutty, but I think we need to start playing up Lieberman's liberal credentials. Most Dems are going to be solid with Lamont, so maybe we need to focus on cutting down Lieberman's support among Republicans and Independents - since we don't need to worry about most progressives or Democrats.
How about throwing a couple of wedges in between Lieberman and the Republicans who are supporting him instead of their own party candidate? For instance, why not talk about issues like Lieberman's pro-choice votes in order to make it harder for pro-life people to vote for him?
If we could get the actual Republican candidate above 25% - all of that new support would obviously be shaved off of Lieberman's numbers and not Lamonts. Split the Republican vote and Lamont gets his margin.
So say it loud and say it proud - Lieberman is Liberal.
