As we approach 2,749 deaths in Iraq, Dems should not stay silent.
It's time for the Democrats to start talking tough and unforgivingly. We went into an unnecessary war under false pretenses and as a result, almost as many good Americans have died there as were killed at the hands of malevolent terrorists on September 11th. This is not acceptable. If we are going to make a big deal about 2,749 people dying in the terrorist attack on the World Trade Center and Pentagon (which we damn well should), we should be just as pissed off about 2,749 people dying in an unprovoked war that lacked the strategy, funding, and military might necessary to win. It's time for the Democrats to make a political issue out of this because 2,749 deaths is too goddamn many. We have to stop hesitating to go ahead with "risky" political maneuvers because as a result, we look like a political party without convictions. We do have convictions. We have morals. And we know that we can't remain silent when the number of citizens who died in 9/11 reaches that number in Iraq. This should be an issue that we don't shut up about until the troops are brought home but, unfortunately, it looks like the Democrats will continue to remain silent. As of today, there are 2,680 US citizens dead as a result of this misguided war. Why should an American death at the hands of an incompetent policy be any different than an American death at the hands of a merciless terrorist?
