I've previously blogged the startlingly high amount given to Ned Lamont vis a vis donations to other Senate candidates. When I examined the totals, in early September, Lamont had more in the way of ActBlue donations than Claire McCaskill, Bob Casey, Harold Ford, and Sherrod Brown put together.
Since I was looking at the overall totals at the time, there was the likelihood that the figures I was seeing were related mostly to the intensity of the primary contests.
I decided to have a second look this morning, subtracting the totals I observed on September 6 from those I saw this morning. The totals turned out to be surprising.
ActBlue Donations since September 6:
Lamont - 6K (337 total)
McCaskill - 4K (71)
Tester - 7K (131)
Brown - 3K (55)
Casey - 2K (15)
Ford - 1K (13)
Webb - 47K (227!)
As a Virginian I am pleased to see Webb receiving so much. Very pleased.
It's worth noting that Ford and McCaskill are running in very very tight races and Ford especially has not reaped much in the way of donations (only 13K total on ActBlue). Tennessee is looking increasingly winnable, as Corker's flaws come to light.
Would anyone know why Webb's totals jumped so much compared to the others?
