CSPAN carried the DNC's deliberations today over how to structure the 2008 Democratic primary. The goal is to enable the candidate with the best chance to win the general election the opportunity to compete effectively in the primary, instead of letting the MSM annoint a candidate after a small primary.
I hope this diary can be a forum where people can offer their views on what gives Democrats the best chance. If this diary is successful, and we can reach a concensus, perhaps we can add our 2cents to the process.
I'll start off with a possible suggestion:
Democrats forgo Iowa and New Hampshire primaries and have a nationwide primary in April or May after the Republicans have chosen their candidate. Democrats will then have a better idea which of our candidates might fare best in the general.
If enough people participate in this diary and if I am able to I will put a poll in place to represent the suggestions.
Thanks.
