It is moving toward mid-afternoon, and a little bit of information is trickling in. Some counties are using new Danaher machines, including mine (Williamson) and Nashville's (Davidson). I voted a little while ago. There were three machines at the precinct. All were being used and I was the next in line, but still waited about five minutes. Pollworkers were giving a very time-consuming orientation to every voter.
Based on early reports of turnout, it looks like Republican areas are heavier than Democratic, at least in Middle Tennessee. This was predictable, since the Republican Senate primary is the biggest race in the state.
As of this evening, Harold Ford Jr. will have a single opponent. It will almost certainly be Bob Corker, former mayor of Chattanooga. The other two guys tried to out-wingnut each other and never distinguished themselves. They will split that part of the vote.
Ford will hit the ground running - he is scheduled to come to our county fair next week.
Anybody know more about Danaher machines?
