Up until now, I have done what the 101st fighting keyboardists have done. Sat here reading the blogs, typing the occasional diary or comment, and occasionally writing my memebers of Congress when important legislation was pending or had just passed. I had not taken my message to the streets.
Now that congress (including both of my NJ Democratic senators) has passed Bush-pushed legislation essentially approving the president's ability to define what torture is, absolves those who have engaged of torture of criminal wrongdoing and eleminates habeus corpus, I can no longer sit in my chair.
If you haven't heard, a national day of mass resistance has been scheduled for Thursday, October 5th.

I am a father, a husband, a businessman, and an Elder in my church. I work in Philadelphia, and I will be at our rally.
Every building in the city should empty out at 11:45. Every person who cares, and who can get to a rally should attend. If you can't get to a scheduled rally, schedule one for your city, town or village.
Make them pay attention.
Make them hear us.
Our presence must be felt.
