Then do something about it. First, click
here to recommend this diary by Jim Starowicz which describes the upcoming vote on the anti-torture amendment to the Department of Defense Appropriations Bill.
That's for starters. (Yes I'm shamelessly pimping someone elses's diary -- so sue me).
Second, and more importantly check to see if your Senator or Congressperson is on the list of Committee members who need to be called ASAP about this important topic.
Even if they aren't, consider calling your Congressperson to register with their office that you support the amendment (Capitol Hill switchboard: (202) 224 - 3121).
Third, if you call, leave your name and address so that they know a constituent has called them, not just some nameless person who read a blog. And ask how their Senator or Congressperson intendsto vote.
I asked how my Congressman, James Walsh, R, NY, intended to vote and was told by the staffer that he didn't know. If this happens to you (because what Republican is going to admit they intend to vote against an antitorture amendment?) impress on whomever is talking to you that you'd like a call back when they do know, or you will just keep calling to find out.
Thanks.
