Agreement that Dem's aren't perfect but better than the despots is a bit of slippery slope, isn't it? I mean what happens when "better" still isn't good enough to save a country?
And yes, it's been well chronicled and obvious to anyone paying attention that the GOP and exectives at corporate media chains who sympathize with them ($ cha-ching $) have been running the table by manipulating the news, it's meaning, or what is even covered at all...
But - and it's a big "but" (not meaning an arse, of course) - if Democratic leaders really, really, really wanted to - they could breakthrough the perceived media lockout.
If a lead Senator or the House Minority leader stood on the Capitol steps and started shouting and making threats (yes, threats! crazy, wild threats, serious enough ones to invoke a response just short of (gasp) being thrown in jail maybe) - it would get coverage.
If a group of Senators and house members announced that they were taking a drastic action (use your imaginiation!) - it would get coverage. It could not be ignored.
The truth is that Democrats in Washington have had, and have at this very moment the option to bring this nation and it's despotic leaders to a screeching halt, at any time.
They've only lacked the resolve to go for it. And that's been for over half a decade now. Longer than World War II lasted and just short of the span of the Vietnam War! (OMFG, right?)
Lacking a good plan, almost any plan of aggressive action would be a good thing just to break the status quo, would it not be? And if the first plan doesn't work, well isn't that what a plan b is for?
The situation we are all in reminds me of the decree a sales manager I used to work gave to us, in meetings for our larger sales events, when he was seeking bottomline results from everyone:
"Just do something!"
He taped that on the wall. And it inspired us.
Maybe now is the time to tape it to the Capitol building.
