Not to spoil the surprise, but it was made very clear on Friday just how inept the current Congresswoman from Tennessee's 7th really is.
Thank you to everyone that took the time to shoot us words of encouragement over this latest Marsha Blackburn citing. A few more of these and this election will be a shoe in for Bill Morrison.
But for those still on the fence about whether or not Bill can win this November, I recommend you take a trip over to MSNBC.com and take a look at the most recent video clip from Hardball with Chris Matthews. It seems Republican Congresswoman Marsha Blackburn was put on the spot with regards to Bob Woodward's new book, "State of Denial," as well as the current crisis in Iraq.
Not to spoil the surprise, but it was made very clear on Friday just how inept the current Congresswoman from Tennessee's 7th really is. When asked for her thoughts on what Woodward's book says about this administration, Marsha said Woodward is just trying to sell a book and then jumps topic to blame Democrats for "attacking personalities" because "they don't have a plan."
- "I tell ya' what, it helps us when you have the Minority Leader going out saying this election shouldn't be about national security," said Marsha.
- "What did she say it's about," asked Chris.
- LONG PAUSE
- "She doesn't have a plan."
Continuing on, Chris began to gauge Marsha's opinion of our current Iraq policy. After spouting on with the same GOP talking points, a.k.a. Stand Up/Stand Down, Chris rebutted with the recent AP Poll numbers.
- Said Chris, "But they say, 3/5 of the Iraqi people according to a new AP Poll say they want us dead. If they're taking responsibility and they're willing to say they want us dead, shouldn't we leave? You say they should make the decision, they're making it, they say get out. Why don't we get out?"
- "...Because...," again paused Marsha, "We have made a commitment to help stabilize the Middle East."
- Interrupted Chris, "No, our commitment is to do what they want done and they want us to leave."
Wait, wasn't our commitment to find and disarm Saddam's weapons of mass destruction? No, it was to bring freedom to the Iraqi people from Saddam Hussein? Wait, I got it, it was to make us safer, right? Pretty sure the war in Iraq was never sold as a "commitment to help stabilize the Middle East." If that's the deal, we'll be there until the turn of the next century.
What's Democratic Congressional Candidate Bill Morrison's take on Iraq:
Bill believes it is the responsibility of the President and Congress to develop a clear exit strategy that recognizes the situation on the ground and brings our troops home. He believes in setting benchmarks for restoring security and infrastructure in Iraq and bringing our troops home as soon as we meet those benchmarks. We must also never again send our troops into harm's way with too little body armor and inadequate equipment.
