I don't work for the campaign, I've volunteered walking precincts a few times. There could be more of us out there.
Specifically the campaign could use a li'l more love from those of us who live on the west side of the hills. Especially in areas that are just starting to have a volunteer effort in place.
Follow me below for information about carpooling, contacts and such.
Last weekend there were activities in Stockton, Tracy, Dublin, Morgan Hill and Manteca. Lodi, Brentwood and Discovery Bay will be having activities soon. The 2 weekends prior I volunteered out of Dublin.
The easiest way for bay area residents to volunteer is to hop on BART and get off at the Dublin/Pleasanton station. It's about a mile to the campaign HQ. Here are walking directions:
To get here from BART, go left out of the station toward Dublin. You'll see a paved path to a cul-de-sac (Scarlett Court) on your left. Go along the path, then walk down Scarlett Court to Dublin Blvd. Go left on Dublin Blvd all the way to Clark (just past City Hall). Go left on Clark. It's a circle that becomes Village Parkway at the curve. We're on the left at 6250 Village Parkway, the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) local 595 Building. We're upstairs to the right.
Dublin's phone # is (925) 833-0463 if you have any more questions or you can contact Gary who's been coordinating stuff there (gary at jerrymcnerney dot org). Getting there is one thing but getting to the precincts is being done by car. So if you wouldn't mind bringing yours to share the load bringing people to precincts, it couldn't hurt.
Now, some of the areas deeper into CA-11 could use bay area support as well. Stockton, Tracy and Morgan Hill have been at it for a while and Manteca started last weekend. Here's info for specific areas:
Manteca:
Bill Perkins

Morgan Hill:

Stockton:

Tracy:

Tri-Valley (out of Dublin):

Get ahold of the people for the area your interested in and see what's going on. They generally send out activity announcements on thursdays but you may want to know earlier.
As far as carpools from SF/Oakland, I'm willing to coordinate this for people (though I am carless, heh). Send me an email at tack at gaffle dot com with "ca-11" somewhere in the subject line. What I would need to know is if you're willing to drive, from where, which area you'd like to volunteer in and what day(s).
Anyway, by all means contact the campaign and lend a hand. Pombo's got a lot of big donors and if we want to be effective in taking this seat, we can use our shoe leather to counter that advantage.
