I noticed Howard Dean when he was still an asterisk(*) in the 2004 election cycle.
Nobody took him seriously. He'd pop up when no one else 'important' had anything to say. He'd talk about his record and balancing budgets and such... you got the impression that the bored interviewer was almost dozing.
But, I listened to him. He made a lot of sense to me. And then, in California, he said, "What I want to know is why the Democrats in Washington... "
I lived in Washington, DC for awhile. My wife was working for a Political Action Committee. Yep, Lobbyists. I would come into her office on occasion and would read some of the 'fundraising' shakedown letters from the various congressmen. I remember one letter, although the congressman was very forgettable. I thought, hmmm, the mafia had pitches like this.
Back in the 80s I knew Washington was corrupt with corpocroc money. It has gotten so very much worse.
So I am supporting somebody from outside Washington, hoping that some of the cesspool will get drained.
An outsider, with no obligations to corpocroc money or the corpocroc's media could clean up things enough to have an America renewed for a generation.
All those brave kids in the snow for their candidate. It sort of reminds me of when I was young. That energy and faith in democracy.
I hope we don't let them down this time.
