Seeing the reaction on this and other blogs to Biden's comments today is frighteningly reminscent of the right-wing reaction to Kerry's botched joke on soldiers getting "stuck in Iraq." The Biden hatred on this site has always been irrational and viral, but today it has just gone over the top. To call Joe Biden racist when he has spent years supporting the civil rights movement is appalling, ridiculous, unfair, and outrageous.
It's amazing to me how liberals can be so great at defending Kerry against the viscious lies of the right-wing, then go and behave in the exact same way against Joe Biden, less than 3 months later.
Vote Smart: "Senator Biden supported the interests of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People 100 percent in 2005."
That's right. ONE HUNDRED PERCENT. Biden is a racist? How about people do some research before throwing out insane charges? Actions speak louder than words. Biden's actions speak to his extremely strong support for civil rights.
CNN: Biden: "If I were a state legislator, I'd vote for it [confederate flag] to move off the grounds -- out of the state."
Biden was invited to speak at the NAACP's rally in South Carolina on Martin Luther King Day. Just 2 weeks ago. Why was he invited? Because he's a champion of civil rights. Because, rather than being a racist like the Biden-haters here keep screaming, he's actually taken action, fighting for civil rights in his entire public life. The NAACP knows where Joe Biden stands. By calling Joe Biden a racist, the Biden-haters on this site are basically saying the NAACP is a clueless organization. I know that this isn't true. The NAACP knows what it's doing. The NAACP backs politicians who support civil rights. Joe Biden is one of these men. I'm pretty sure that at this rally, Joe Biden offered the strongest opposition to the confederate flag in South Carolina of any white person ever. Get off him.
