Media lies, Media lies. There was a 500,000 March on Washington - and theCorporate Media just Yawns. A half a million marched in DC alone. Then you add in the hundreds of protests from across the country and you have another historic event taking place, with the corporate media twisting into contortions in attempt to downplay it. They focus on the anti war grandmothers, and chuckle on the side.

"Tens of thousands of protesters converged on the National Mall on Saturday to oppose President Bush’s plan for a troop increase in Iraq in what organizers hoped would be one of the largest shows of antiwar sentiment in the nation’s capital since the war began."
The story was carried as headline at the bottom of the page, not exactly prominent positioning. No Photo. A story about tennis got bigger play.
NPR reported January 27: "While some citizens have protested against the Iraq war ever since the invasion of March 2003, the movement has failed to mobilize large numbers of people in public spaces. Has that changed now that a majority of Americans oppose the war?"
The bottom line here is that they are playing us. With NBC's parent company in the military arms business, how much objective reporting do you think your going to get. And with the anti trust rules relaxed ( thank you Mr. Regan ), and these mega corporations spreading their influence all over the media landscape, how much oposition reporting do you think is out there? Regan also axed the fairness docrtine witch required that the media give equal time to uposing viewpoints. In my opinion, thom Hartman is one of the few who presents both sides of the issues, as if there was still a fairness doctrine in place. Almost as an example of what the media could be if it wasn't so slanted to the right wing mentality.
I drew a cartoon to reflect this. it's at my website.

We still need to free our media. Anyone with me?
