Ok, calm down, hear me out here. Now I'm not saying she's "racist" like George Wallace or Strom Thrumond. Hell she's not even "racist" like Joe Biden's comments about Obama were "racist". No, Arianna is racist in the way that most whites in the western world are "racist". It's not overt racism, its not covert racism, its completely oblivious overt racism. The type of racism that is cloaked in an invisible shroud of hypocricy and double standard that make it nearly impossible for white people to see, the type of racism in which it is 100% ok to frame a discussion on political issues around the concept of race, just as long as there is no discussion about whites.
The conventional mainstream logic as it goes, is that whites are much too diverse a people to be lumped together solely on the basis of their race. Everybody else sure, but not Whites. Its this type of unconscious superiority that permeates a blog post written by Arianna on March 15 entitled Thank You, Sir, May I Have Another? Sharpton Puts Obama Through a Political Hazing Ritual
in which Huffington ask some of the most offensive, condescending, ignorant, out of touch, and yes racist, questions regarding African American leaders and their hesitance to fully support Barack Obama in his presidental run.
Listening to Al Sharpton rip into Barack Obama this week made me wonder: why is it that African American leaders so often feel compelled to give the back of their hand (to say nothing of the serrated edge of their tongue) to emerging black leaders? Is it jealousy? Ego? An unwillingness to give up power? Or is it some sort of political hazing ritual in which the upperclassmen mercilessly pummel the new pledges before letting them into the fraternity?
Are you kidding me Arianna? With everything at stake for African Americans in these upcoming elections the idea that educated, politically savy, grown men, who have spent their lives bringing attention to serious issues that affect Blacks in America and worldwide, instantly turn into the cast of "Mean Girls" when a new kid on the block shows up is not only insulting, its racist.
Might it be that the reluctance of "Black leaders" to endorse Obama is in any way due to his vague, and undefined political leanings with regards to issues that black people care about most?
Nope, they're just jealous.
Apparently to Arianna, anytime "black leaders" disagree, said disagreement has nothing to do with the issues at hand, (how could it, we all think alike... right?) its just their egos getting in the way.
Could you imagine the response that a black political pundit would recieve if he or she were to imply that the reason Joe Lieberman gave Ned Lamont "the back hand" was because Lieberman was jealous of Lamont, and his ego wouldn't allow him let another 'white leader' gain power?
Hell, why stop there, I could think of a million race specific questions to ask our white leaders, for instance... Why do white leaders invade sovereign nations, (that havent threatened U.S. sovereignty in any way) destroy said sovereign nations infrastructure, and send said nation into total chaos that results in the death of hundreds of thousands of civilians? oh oh... and Why do White leaders support companies that profit from the death, destruction, and mismanagement of war?
Is it pure evil? Is it greed? Is it some weird Skull & Bones hazing ritual?
