I will share a little bit about my politics, talk about what interests me, and then talk a little bit about some recent news stories. The point of this is to give people a preview for what to expect, more or less.
- I have been posting comments on and off for a few weeks. Politically I would describe myself as a moderately liberal libertarian. I believe strongly in individual rights and a free market economy, but I also believe in a social safety net, and environmental protection.
- Key interests outside of politics: Sports, Philosophy, Economics, Sociology, History, and Science.
- Some issue's that I want to write about in the future:
A. Treatment of anorexics: In my opinion the treatment of anorexics is cruel and ineffective. Research I did on the issue indicate that anorexics are committed to facilities and force-fed food they hate, (rich high calorie food is turned into a paste and then force-fed to them). I think this kind of treatment explains why anorexics are considered untreatable; the doctors can only "treat" them by force feeding them and then releasing them. They can't change their (the anorexic's) unhealthy relationship with food.
B. Immigration and the economy: Immigration increases a nation's total GDP, but it hurts some types of American workers. It benefits consumers and hurts some workers. To complicated to go into anymore detail.
C. War on drugs. The war on drugs is a complete disaster, the harm caused by our enforcement of drug laws is many times worse then the harm caused by the drugs themselves. We should be emphasizing consumer responsibility instead of protecting people from themselves.
- Any questions?
