WASHINGTON, May 7 — A committee of World Bank directors has formally notified Paul D. Wolfowitz that they found him to be guilty of a conflict of interest in arranging for a pay raise and promotion for Shaha Ali Riza, his companion, in 2005. The findings stepped up the pressure on Mr. Wolfowitz to resign.
The Germans and French head the long line of Europeans that have made this their fight. Very few articles over the last few weeks go with out the catch phrase 'architect of the war in Iraq'.
Last week Gordon Brown the heir apparent for Tony Blair's PM spot slipped out the back before being seen on stage with Wolfowitz.

WASHINGTON- A top adviser to World Bank World Bank President Paul Wolfowitz is leaving the institution, citing the continuing controversy surrounding Wolfowitz‘ handling of a pay package for his girlfriend.
Wolfowitz had tapped Kellems, who came from the White House and worked with him previously at the Defense Department, to become his adviser at the poverty-fighting institution. Kellems‘ arrival in June 2005 eventually touched off criticism among staff that Wolfowitz was sealing himself off with a small cadre of trusted advisers.
