Miss Laura wrote that UMass is giving an honorary degree to Andrew Card, the former Bush WH apologist. Now, UMass is an institution that purports to be all about ethical standards. So, how is it ethical for a university to hold up Card as the highest ideal of their standards? Especially when he was one of the chief liars for the beginning of the invasion and occupation of Iraq?
The fact of the matter is that there is no logic to this degree. Which means that this does not pass the smell test. Something smells, all right. I smell dung -- elephant dung.
And it seems that these elephants are really hungry this time. So, we need to feed them donuts.
Yes, these donuts. The kind that are sold on the streets of big cities and then taken into huge warehouses at night where they are kept with the huge furry critters that live there.
And it is very appropriate that the elephant is the symbol of the Republican Party. The elephant is the hungriest animal in the animal kingdom and eats more food than just about any other animal. So, we need lots and lots of donuts to feed them:
Because most of us should know by now than for Republicans, morality is never about them; it is always about the other person. When someone else lies, it is a major bad deal. But if they lie, it is OK. Thus, for the Republicans, morality is nothing but a power tool to control others.
In a perfect and just world, these people would belong in prison, not in power.
But in reality, IOKIYAR.
