AfterElton.com continues their two part series on openly gay journalists. This time they focus on a discussion involving the journalists and network executives, both straight and gay about what it means to be out and how supportive the various news organizations are. The most interesting part was the gay Fox & Friends producer David Brown who kept talking about how much Roger Ailes, Bill O'Reilly, and Sean Hannity just loved him.
I've always been baffled by Log Cabin Republicans, but to hear this fellow talk about how O'Reilly listens to him is hilarious.
As the head producer on The O'Reilly Factor, Brown was a part of the discussion on how topics such as gay adoption, Gay Days at Disney and gay circuit party culture were covered. "My point of view was heard and respected," Brown explained, "and whether or not Bill agreed with it - and it's not The Brown Factor, it's The O'Reilly Factor - but he had me at his side and in his ear."
Fat lot of good it did us.
As for Hannity:
"Sean and I love each other." As to whether Hannity has an issue with Brown being gay, Brown said: "I'm Dave and he's Sean, and the show is good, or the show is bad. There is no gay issue." Brown insisted it's like that across the board at Fox, and said that at monthly NLGJA mixers at a local New York gay club, Fox News journalists are "always the largest contingent."
Sorry, but I'm not impressed. Being gay and working for Fox News as a producer or reporter is pretty much unforgivable. You can read the whole thing here:
