Today I feel exactly like I felt when Kerry conceded the election in '04. All that work for nothing. All that energy, for nothing, and all that enthusiasm and faith for nothing. I am thankful to have this forum to share my thoughts and to commiserate.
The Democrats likely supported the war because they know that no matter what is done now, things will get worse in Iraq. They fear that being blamed for escalating civil war in Iraq would will cost them the election in '08. We are no different from them.
They support Bush no matter what because they are afraid to lose the election. We support them no matter what because we are afraid they will lose the election if they don't. You see? Bush has us all by the ba;;s because we are afraid of him.
We criticize them as spineless, but we blink every time just as surely as they do. We continue to give them our support, our time, our money because we are afraid of Bush.
Do you understand that we are their spines? They cannot have spines unless we do first. They know we will blink, just as surely as Bush and Cheney knew they would. Do we have the guts to stand firm against the war this time?
I apologize that this diary has no meat in it but I'm getting ready for a cross country move right now, which is no small feat when you got little ones about. I just had to share these thoughts because I know I am not alone in my anger and sense of helplessness right now. The only thing we can do right now is to withdraw our support for the ones who voted against stopping the war. Yes, it is a game of chicken, but time is on our side.
