Justice served finally !
CNN reports :
A judge rules that a Georgia man should be released from a 10-year prison sentence for having oral sex with a 15-year-old girl when he was 17.
Recently there was a diary comparing this case to Paris Hilton's case.
It is obvious the prosecutor did not use proper judgment and broke the spirit of the law.
from the comments : Mikebaseball's detailed diary on the topic.
More details are awaited soon.
update : Yahoo has more details : Judge: No 10-year sentence for teen sex
The state is likely to appeal the ruling.
Wilson's original sentence, for aggravated child molestation, was widely criticized on the grounds it was grossly disproportionate to the crime. State lawmakers later passed a law to close the loophole that led to the 10-year sentence.
Wilson, now 21, has already served more than 27 months. He is expected to remain behind bars while the appeal proceeds.
Updated title to reflect actual sentence.
More from yahoo story:
A judge on Monday voided a 10-year sentence for a man accused of having consensual oral sex with a 15-year-old girl when he was 17. He instead gave Genarlow Wilson a 12-month misdemeanor sentence with credit for time already served.
But if the state appeals , he will be in jail during the process.

wow, thanks to everyone the diary made it to the recommended list. Hopefully the GA prosecutor's office listens to the people and drop their plans to appeal the ruling.
from Rico's comment:
I just called the GA AG's office...
...and the lady who answered the phone said that the majority of calls today are calling for the AG to recind the appeal motion.
Thurbert Baker is the GA AG, phone number 404-656-3300 - make sure their phone bank is flooded!

It should be noted that AG is African-American.
