Those that frequent the diaries of OPOL, one of our most inspirational brothers, probably know for the most part, I've favored pragmatism and argued for it quite a bit since the '06 mid-terms, when it comes to the question of impeachment. Though I've also always, done my best to engender a sense of unity and combined effort to both pragmatic and passionate constituencies.
Long and through many a late night, the debate has raged across many, many a thread, inspiring quite a flood of meta, reaching almost every corner.
Through all of that, I maintained the advocacy of patience and strategic positioning. But something in me has changed profoundly.
It's become clear to me, that I must speak my mind and follow this intellectual evolution, to you personally OPOL and to our good friend the Major as well...
I believe that it's time to make a concerted, active, relentless, and overwhelming push for the impeachment of any and all Bush administration officials subject to the impeachment process, particularly in DOJ and the VP's office, particularly Cheney.
Events of late, of the last few weeks, have been climbing to critical mass, faster and faster with each passing day.
The utter contempt and disrespect, outright fucking DEFIANCE, of the constitution, checks and balances, and responsibilities is quickly leaving the alternatives to impeachment impotent.
Just like a 5 year old stomping their feet and refusing to clean up their room, this administration is willfully ignoring the bedrock principles of our beloved nation.
There's no more time to maneuver or quibble over it any longer. We wait much longer and it will probably be passed the point of no return and headed into tyranny.
I have sworn upon the altar of God, eternal hostility against every form of tyranny over the mind of man.
Thomas Jefferson
The moment is upon us.
And should we reach past Sept, meet continued arrogance and refusal, still be deeply entrenched in Iraq, and still have nothing of substance coming out of congress, I would like to propose the following action:
Beginning on 11/21 through 11/25, Thanksgiving day weekend, every Kossack, in every state, every county, every district, every town across this nation, organizes for action within their own respective geographical regions.
Everyone, in every state, county, district, city and town, gathers as many people as possible and march on the homes or offices of their congressional rep or their senator's offices en mass and simultaneously everywhere. On moment of action across the country, all at exactly the same moment.
We find out if we can, where the actual individual will be and make every attempt to follow them there.
Go and plan on staying through the holiday weekend. When confronted, refuse to leave. When threatened with arrest, stand your ground. If the authorities attempt to cordon off some pathetic excuse for a "free-speech" zone, resist and insist that every public space is subject to the first amendment.
There, we call for impeachment, we call for justice and demand that us, acting upon the right of the people to
petition the government for a redress of grievances
We put our money where our mouths are and make such a noise that even GOD will stand up and pay attention to us again!
Just like Cindy Sheehan has done, we confront them boldly and relentlessly. Her protests were effective, but limited, localized. Yet her protest in Crawford began with just a few loyal friends and grew into a massive assault. It began the awakening of the truth about Bush's personal and perpetual character fault.
Coward.
Can you imagine, what 10, 20, 100, 1000 little Camp Casey's across the length and breadth of our American home might do? What such a massive and coordinated action could awaken? Can you see the potential social and psychological earthquake?
That one action in Crawford 2 years ago began the steps toward tearing back the curtain, the illusion, that this administration was an insurmountable mountain in the minds of the American public, the beginning of the end of our long, dark night.
But now, NOW, is the time for the first rays of sunshine to rise on the horizon and bathe our dear home in the light of hope and at long last, healing.
The concept I'll admit, seems a bit grandiose, next to impossible even. Maybe it is. But through the means of this medium we all are immersed in daily, the potential to organize, coordinate, and initiate just such an event.
But only if we have the will and strength of spirit to pick up the banner and bring it home. A banner we all believe in, one that we carry with us every day in our hearts. That we fight for with our every breath, every single day, in order to restore it to its rightful regard in honor, justice, and high moral purpose again.
This one:
I believe in this community, believe in the power of this place. Despite all of our differences and disagreements, when we were called to step up and take our place in the living history of this nation, we answered that call.
This community, among many others, came together in purpose and found that we could truly change the world for the better. That these United States isn't quite as divided as it seemed.
Early on in this passion play, we were scattered to the winds in our own personal despair. In the face of what seemed an unconquerable tide of regressive and tyrannical men, set on seeing the end of our liberty in the name of security against a nebulous and ill-defined enemy. Isolated and beaten down, without a voice of our own and no one willing to listen.
Soon, we learned we were not alone and with growing strength, we gathered to each other out of common cause and concern. We discovered that change WAS possible, that ours is a shared dream that is ultimately impossible to stop for very long. It is a pattern that has been repeated again and again down the centuries, always driving forward towards justice and peace.
Now, we must come together again, despite whatever differences the present political season brings upon us. The very fate of our future is at stake, the fate of our children and all generations to come.
In light of that, there's another banner we should carry together. Carry proudly and with hope.
The one we cherish and share... OUR banner...
Síochán!
