In light of Al Gore's statement yesterday that he "may re-enter politics" -- widely discussed here: http://www.dailykos.com/... -- I think it's time for those of us who would like to see him join the 2008 Presidential field to find ways to encourage his thinking in this direction.
Al Gore is Chairman of Current TV, a channel that takes it's programming from the submissions of ordinary citizens in an effort to democratize television content and hasten the eventual merging of television and internet. Recently, Gore sent an email asking people to create "ecospot" ads for Current TV highlighting ways to solve the Climate Crisis. Here's a link for those interested: http://www.current.tv/...
It occurred to me that those interested in seeing Al Gore enter the Presidential race could submit their own Al Gore ads to show their support. Here's the page on Current TV about submitting content: http://www.current.tv/...
If Current TV all of a sudden got a lot of such submissions, I'm sure this would come to Gore's attention. It would show Gore that some of the most creative minds on the internet are already in his corner. I'd bet that his eventual campaign (knock on wood) would be able to use some of them. Wouldn't it be wonderful for a candidate to air an ad that came from a volunteer supporter rather than someone he paid to "sell" his candidacy? I think this is EXACTLY the kind of thing Gore would like to see happening and would influence his decision to change his "plans" regarding the 2008 election.
If you do submit something, please share it with us by also putting it on YouTube or similar sites and sending the link here. Of course, this diary will not be up for long, so please suggest in the comments other places people could post their ads or links to them so we will know where to look (sorry I'm not very familiar with video sites).
