This almost boggles my mind, but even after being implicated as a client of the D.C. Madam, Sen. David Vitter (R-LA) still has ridiculously high approval ratings.
Politico article
Sixty-six percent of voters either strongly or somewhat approved of Vitter's job performance in a survey conducted Aug. 3-9 by Southern Media & Opinion Research Inc., a Baton Rouge firm. Twenty-two percent said they disapproved and 11 percent did not have an opinion.
• Do you approve or disapprove of the job David Vitter is doing as U.S. senator?
STRONGLY APPROVE: 28.7 percent
SOMEWHAT APPROVE: 38.0 percent
SOMEWHAT DISAPPROVE: 11.4 percent
STRONGLY DISAPPROVE: 11.1 percent
DNK/WS: 10.7 percent
I mean, Louisiana folks, WTF? And while it does not address if people would actually cast a ballot to re-elect him, does Louisiana simply not care about this?? Has Louisiana turned that much more red after Katrina drove out tons of Democrats? Do they LIKE corruption down there? I mean, seeing as how they re-elected William Jefferson over someone like Karen Carter, maybe they do.
I mean, ONLY 22.5% of Louisianans have SOME kind of disapproval for Vitter after all this? It really doesn't give me much faith in the Louisiana people. At least, 66.7% of them. What's going on down there???
