I'm here in the Catskills (upstate New York, for the uninitiated), at my "ski condo" in Windham. The weather is fantastic...must be iin the 80s, nary a cloud in the ski. The thing is, I have no cable connected up here, no wireline phone, and the cell phone service is almost non existent, and what was supposed to be WiFi service for the condo owners does not seem to work in my unit....in fact, I have finally discovered, the only place where I can get decent reception and be comfortable is right here...at the pool.
some more below....
So....I don't know what's happening in the world, and hardly care. However, it's time for my fix, and so I'm here checking Kos, and much to my surprise, I see that Bush is in Iraq, and so I now feel relieved that we will finally gt a true and honest assessment of the situation. Yep. I also see on Huffington that his pilot told him off, and so I suppose there will be one more honored guest at Guantanamo.
It's so peaceful here, as compared to my usual very-close-to-D.C.haunt. I'm finally getting to read my autographed "Assault on Reason." Having read so many books lately of a similar genre, I was not expecting much - but Al Gore proved me wrong. His observations are quite thought provoking, and once again I feel depressed that he has not entered the race, and I fear that he has only a very short time to make his decision before he will lose the support of those of us who think he is the best this nation has to offer. Of course, I couldn't help but think he does have challenges in terms of expressing his ideas in a way that would appeal to the broad general public. I was trying to decide if this would go over well in a debate:
I believe that the vividness experienced in the reading of words is automatically modulated by the constant activation of the reasoning centers of the brain that are used in the process of cocreating the representation of reality the author has intended.
I'm picturing a bumper sticker....
But seriously, I do think the country is ready and, perhaps, even anxious for Al Gore to reclaim what was stolen from him, and us. But please announce soon, one way or the other, ok?
I wonder what species of bird is singing right to my left. Ah, another one has joined her in a seeming communication. Now a third. A beautiful monarch butterfly hovered near the pool, flew off, came back, and landed, posing long enough for a camera toting pool goer to take a lovely photo. My beer disguised in a coffee mug tastes fine, and I must depart to try to improve my tennis yet a second time today, and then to dinner at a country inn type place. Tomorrow, the trip back to reality will shake me out of this mood, I'm afraid, but for now....all is well. And thanks, DKOS, for being here to give me my liberal fix, the analysis of the news that I need, so I can skip the MSM in all its forms and just get to the heart of the matter at hand. Thanks.
Oh...one thing I must mention (and actually forgot). For some crazy reason, this laptop, with Windows XP, does NOT allow me to post any messages or comments, so I will not be able to interact, do the "tip" thing, or otherwise partake...unless I keep "editing" this diary. I do not have this problem on any other computer. Maybe someone might have some ideas. I'm thinking it has something to do with the firewall setup, but have not been able to solve it. I will, however, be able to read any comments. Sorry.
