Good morning Kossacks! Clint Curtis here, candidate for Congress in Florida’s 24th District. I was wondering if you could help me flesh out a fundraising letter. And I want to be clear about this: I’m not asking you for contributions. I promised on my first diary I won’t do that until such time as I feel I’ve earned the right. What I’m asking for today is some helpful suggestions on how to word a traditional fundraising letter that I’ll be sending to existing supporters’. I’m open to any ideas that might help it stand out: Most of all, it’s important to me that my existing supporters’ understand they are partners in my campaign, not just nameless, faceless piggy banks.
DarkSyde said it best when he told me you are the ‘largest, often untapped pool of political talent and expertise he’s ever seen -- an instant, online think-tank for any issue or topic.’ I’ve come to agree. I read the front page of course -- most any progressive candidate now reads Daily Kos as if it were an instruction manual -- but I’ve noticed some of the best material is in the diaries on the recent and recommended list. The more I read your work there, the more I’m impressed by the breadth of your knowledge and the scope of your writing skills. I figure core political activists like you good people see tons of these things. So, when in doubt, ask Daily Kos!
If we can collaborate and improve this, put together a superior, effective letter, it will be a collective success for all -- every GOP dollar my campaign can pin down here in Florida 24, against the notorious, conservative, DeLay clone Mr. Tom Feeney, means less resources they can use elsewhere against the rest of us. Most important, this is an seat that can be won. It is presently in the top three targeted districts in the nation. This is people-powered, asymmetrical, political warfare, with you standing in as the commanding officers in that battle.
I plan to update you on the result of our joint effort.
