Drudge is now reporting that Bill Frist will announce tomorrow that he is supporting increased federal funding for stem cell research. Glad to see he remembered that he was required to believe in science with that M.D. behind his name. It unfortunately does not say what "version" of the bills being debated he's coming out for.
UPDATE: It looks like he's actually coming out in support of the Specter bill. By my count, his support (and bringing the thing to an actual vote) would probably swing enough senators that it would get at least 60 votes, if not 66 (and be a veto proof majority). It's still possible that anti-science Repubs would still attach riders and amendments to try and gut the bill. But the United States Senate seems poised to do its first useful thing of this year (not bad considering we're about to hit August).
