Every lie needs to be exposed so that it doesn’t become accepted as truth. We’ve heard that the US occupation of Iraq should be considered in terms of post WWII Germany and Japan. Let’s see, we divided Germany (and Europe) in half, with the Russians controlling the east, and us controlling the west. So from that scenario, we’d need to get Russia to take control of half of Iraq. Okay, I’m all for that, if we can just get Russia to go along.
What about Japan. It took about 30 years for Japan to recover from the war - to where it was roughly on a par with the pre-war level. In the meantime we fought two very major wars in that region - Korea and Vietnam, at a cost of 8 million dead or wounded soldiers and civilians on both sides of the conflicts. Not to mention the economic costs. Did anyone consider those numbers when comparing Iraq to Japan or Germany. We kept 300,000 troops in Germany for 50 years. Did anyone ever think of that?
More lies - Dr. Condoleezza Rice is presumably the most popular member of the current White House staff. But wasn’t she hired to advise an ill-informed Texas governor about world politics? Colin Powell correctly told W. Bush that if you break it (a calm peaceful Iraq) you own it. What did Dr. Rice advise? That the smoking gun could be a mushroom cloud?
How often have we seen Dr. Rice wrong? Was she aware of the Bin Laden/Al Queida threat before 9/11. I guess not. Was she in favor of letting the Israelis and Palestinians settle their differences without our involvement. I guess so. Is she on top of improving relations with North Korea or Iran. Damn, I don’t know what the girl’s on top of, but it isn’t world politics. What sort of racial-gender forgiveness does Dr. Rice merit for being the biggest screw up this side of George Bush? Forget the NFL commissioner’s job - let her run the national hockey league.
The Iraq solution is simple - the US should leave and allow the UN and regional countries (Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Iran, Syria) to settle this war. Obviously none of those countries would permit a widening or spreading of this war. It’s not in their interest.
