Hello, Dear Readers! Welcome to another fine installment of How You Can Help the YearlyKos Convention! I know you sit there each day fretting about what you can do to help out the convention and ensure that it will be even more of a success then it was last year. I understand how you worry if there will be enough funds for our own, non-politician sponsored chocolate fountain. I feel your consternation over whether or not we will be able to afford enough recycle containers for all the Cheer’s and Jeer’s crowds’ rum and coke bottles. Your cries of woe as you worry how we will ever have enough fainting couches for mind blown media hacks have kept me up at night.
Fear not, Gentle Reader, for I have a plan. Look about your home, your craft room, your workshop. Is there some hidden treasure there you could give up? Is there some item that you could offer so it could bring some other Kossack the joy it once brought you? The YearlyKos Auction will be the perfect way for you to contribute to the convention, and clear out your home of those pesky re-gift items at the same time! Why keep your closets cluttered, your walls covered, and your cabinets filled when you could be donating all those items to the YearlyKos Auction?
We will happily take your proffered items and place them in the YearlyKos auction. And then, with barely contained joy, we shall apply the profits of your efforts to the convention by, and for, us – the Netroots!
Have you read the Mission Statement for YearlyKos? Did you attend last year’s convention, or watch/ listen to it? Have you read any of the diaries about this upcoming convention? Visit the YearlyKos Convention site. Here is a taste of what all the excitement is about:
YearlyKos Convention - n. yier-lee-KOS k&n-'ven(t)-sh&n An annual convention gathering people from all walks of life who belong to the Netroots community, the US-based (but globally focused and inclusive) non-partisan grassroots political action community that uses the Internet and blogs as primary tools for: expressing viewpoints, building consensus, acting to change the status quo, mobilizing huge numbers of people and informing each other and the world about current events, grassroots actions, networks, meetings, policy and more. The YearlyKos Convention is a project of bloggerpower.org with the generous support of YearlyKos Inc.
In June of 2006, "Kossacks" and bloggers from all over the world got together at the first annual YearlyKos Convention and actually met each other at the Riviera Hotel in Las Vegas, NV. Approximately 1200 conventioneers, speakers, panelists and members of the media attended this debut event from June 8-11, and discussed everything from balancing family life, political discourse and a career to education in the United States to the future of energy resources and energy policy, and so much more. Speakers included General Wesley Clark, Senators Barbara Boxer and Harry Reid, DNC Chair Dr. Howard Dean, Ambassador Joe Wilson and former VA Governor, Mark Warner. The convention was covered by high-profile media sources including C-Span, CNN, the major television networks, the The New York Times, national radio outlets and of course, the blogosphere. In keeping with its Netroots origins, the first YearlyKos Convention was self-funded via sponsorships, donors and support from the Netroots community and was organized by volunteers.
This will be a fabulous event, and whether or not you can make it, you can still be a very real part of helping it happen.

Our first auction will start on Monday, February 12. We will need your donation offers within the next week if you would like to be in this first auction. If, unfortunately, your emailed offer arrives after our deadline, I will graciously tell all that you, Beloved Donator, simply did not crave the spotlight of First Auction of 2007.
I look forward to your fabulous contributions!
