Field report on an evening talk from Al Gore in the heart of "The Reddest Red State".
Well the attendance was astonishing, my son and I arrived about 45 minutes early to snag a decent seat in the first tier above the main floor, and even then it was getting hard to find seats. Within the next 50 minutes the main floor filled, the first tier, then the second tier, and then the nose bleed third (rafters) tier filled up....and some folks were worried nobody would come.
Now this is not like the nicely pre-programmed GOP "public events" where you have to pay the GOP for tickets, be vetted by them, and then sign the loyalty oath....nope floor seats $5, the rest free (if you moved fast and snagged some). Luckily my son being a student got two tickets gratis and invited me to attend.

And it was well worth the time; the presentation although very similar to the movie, still had a blunt force trauma impact from real time, real person, and is something none should ever miss. Al Gore received, deservedly, a standing ovation when he appeared and yes at the conclusion of his 2 hour presentation he again was given a standing ovation!
Sorry Bushie fans, Georgie could never pull this off...two hours of facts with force, passion, and often deprecating humor...more a President in losing than little george can ever be with faux victory bought with blood money. Nuff said.
Gore was introduced by Bethany Church who has known him since he was a young boy and although she at 80+ years is failing of body, her mind and wit is still sharp and clear. After hearing her I understand how Al Gore would be unable to say no to her invitation to visit and talk about Global Warming. Her husband was no less a force, the CIA still hates him by the way.....sad that our state has degraded to such buffoons as Sali, Otter, and Luna after such leaders as Frank Church and Cecil Andrus.
The talk was a rousing two hour display of a great speaker talking with passion and moral strength on a danger that is more certain and more dangerous than any terrorist chimeras that we now cower under our national beds from. Gores talk correctly stated facts, proposed in general actions that are realistic and achievable, and punctured all the myths and lies that those living on the River Denial spew out.
The time vanished quickly....much as our glaciers worldwide are....and then an excited and energized crowd left...oh the local media barely covered the event...the fourth estate is dead I fear.
What encouraged me was that afterwards as I visited my son in his dorm apartment and visited with his roommates and their friends to see what they thought....they were energized and at the same time angry....angry at the lies cloaking this very dangerous train racing towards them and the fact that they and their children will be the ones to pay the price of today’s delay and corporations bought disingenuous speech.
I advised them to be angry yet use that anger to organize and alter the path of the catastrophe....don't lose your anger, use it.
All in Red State Idaho....where we will pay the price in drought, and forests aflame, sun roasted crops, and the loss of our heritage if do not act now.
My neighbor this morning asked how to convey the ideas and thoughts of these things to hard core right wing financial stock brokers and I asked him two simple questions.
"Do you wait until you are 65 to start your savings for retirement?"
"Do you wait until you are dead to seek medical help?"
Those who both hear and listen will understand the questions.
