I did a search on this and didn't find anything, if it has already been diaried let me know and I'll delete this.
Well my doctor has been trying to get me to become a vegetarian, to lower my cholesterol, and let me tell you I'm getting real close. I grew up on a farm eating beef, so I don't say that lightly.
This website does a good job of posting all the latest news on the developing story of mad cow in the US. Today they link to an AP story in the
WaPo on yet another cow that looks like it will test positive for mad cow.
Of course you get the usual blather about how the US food supply is safe-safe we tell you from the USDA. Good god what is it going to take to get these people too take this threat seriously. When I read the article by Ms. Quaid I got the impression she wrote it for 3rd graders for christ sakes. Or maybe the USDA wrote it for her.
I found this little tid-bit rather interesting:
The animal died in April, but the veterinarian who removed the brain forgot to send in the sample until last week, Clifford said.
Huh, the veterinarian, who almost assuredly has to know about the MC threat forgot to send in the sample-rather fortuitous wouldn't you say? Apparently the brain sample that was saved was preserved in formalin, now I don't really know what that is, but in the reading I have done, I do know that is a no-no. Apparently the vet didn't
So we have yet another case of MC and it looks like the USDA is MUCH more interested in protecting the profits of cattle ranchers than they are in protecting the US public against MC. Despicable.
