Oh, looks like I got a late Christmas present: Stephen Colbert will host Bill O'Reilly. The two will swap guest spots next week in what has got to be one of the most anticipated political and entertainment appearances since the show started.
Colbert's satirical & comedic portrayal of a fictional conservative news analyst is based entirely on Bill O'Reilly (um, who does a pretty good job of fiction himself).
This begs the question: "Which one's the bigger fake?" |
IMHO, Colbert along with his partner, Jon Stewart, has done much IMHO to destroy the giddiness of the reichtwing "Spin" using a weapon that the wingers have no protection against: humor.
Wingers, like O'Reilly and Coulter, once could incite and provoke angry responses from the left and giggle all the way to the bank. Now they are the ones being made fun of, they are the ones losing their cool, and they are the ones with the plummeting ratings and political polls & influence.
Given his own dismal ratings, O'Reilly had to find some way of getting people to watch him. Of course, that doesn't stop him from being that lovable, egotistical asshole:
"I'm really looking forward to speaking to a man who owes his entire career to me," O'Reilly said.
Yes. Colbert never did anything before The Colbert Report. Stephen has a great comeback :
"I look forward to the evening," Colbert said. "It is an honor to speak face-to-face with a broadcasting legend, and I feel the same way about Mr. O'Reilly."
Ouch. Oh, it's on, bitches!
