I was just listening to Blitzkreig interview Fran Townsen, from "Homeland Security" on the New York Times article on torture.
Strike any "women are more compassionate" meme you may have been carrying around. This chick makes Lizzie Borden look measured, and Bonnie (of Bonnie and Clyde fame.) seem restrained.
She did the most infuriating, "depends on what the meaning of "is" is" dance I have heard in quite awhile.
Oh, and she refused to respond to the word "torture", constantly rephrasing the question to address the "techniques" used in CIA interrogation.
She actually said, "If there are 100,000 dead Americans...you and all Americans would have the right to wonder why we didn't use more extreme "techniques"."
Didn't we just hear the AG's head memo writer testify that David Addington threatened him with that line when insisting that the DOJ produce cover for breaking international law?
According to Ms. Townsen, they don't do "torture". They "apply measured, increasing pressure on Terr'ists, to protect America". In an interview with a Brit who has been released this includes enforced nudity, spitting, slapping, beating, restraining in freezing temperatures, and eardrum splitting rock music played for days at a time."
They are very good at finding a spin line and sticking to it, even when the rock is overturned and the light of day exposes the creepy crawlies.
They are also very good at finding psychotic women to front for the band - saying, and doing things that most people would discount because a woman is saying and doing it.
How do you fight this kind of evil?
