Please visit my blog today and follow the link to the online petition supporting ENDA language that includes our transgender brothers and sisters.
The Employment Non-Discrimination Act, ENDA, which would protect people in the workplace regardless of their sexual orientation, is in danger of being stripped of protections for individuals based on gender identity. Removing gender identity from ENDA supposedly would make it more palatable, and likely to pass the House and Senate.
This means our transgender brothers and sisters would be excluded from the language of the bill, and then they'd have to wait and wait for Congress to eventually get around to enacting employment laws protecting them.
I find this strategy unacceptable and believe ENDA should only move forward with transgender people an integral part of the bill, and I hope you agree with me.
If you're on the same page as I am about including all gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender citizens in the ENDA legislation, then please click on this link and sign the petition today supporting the original ENDA bill.
The petition is sponsored by the good people at the Stonewall Democrats organization and I fully support their effort to move everyone forward in any ENDA bill considered by the US Congress.
Add your voice to those in the LGBT community who endorse a fully-inclusive ENDA bill. Do not delay, do it today!
