Today is the fifth anniversary of the historical shameful mistake of Congress otherwise known as HJ Res 114, roll call 455 Authorizing the Use of United States Armed Forces Against Iraq.
Feeling restless and irritated today the more I thought about it I wanted to go on record both with the Kos community I have come to love and respect and with my failed representative. My feedback and opinion has time and time again dismissed. When I do get a response it is a canned e-mail thanking me and asking for a donation.
Over the years I have sent many thoughts, requests, suggestions, and frustrations to my Congressional representative Elton Gallegly California's 24th Congressional District. A disgraceful and horrendous representative for the moderate central coast community of California.
I would be the first to confess this is a persoanl diary and not newsworhty at all. I just needed to vent. My letter is below.
10/10/07
Elton Gallegly,
As your constituent I felt it appropriate to reach you on this fifth anniversary of your grievous failure and mistake voting for HJ Res 114, roll call 455 Authorizing the Use of United States Armed Forces Against Iraq.
Given it as unquestionably the most historical colossal foreign policy failure of this great nation I am left to wonder how you sleep at night. Your subsequent rubber stamp acquiescence, lack of any oversight, and spineless cowardice in endless funding for a disaster that can not be won militarily provides a shameful record. I invite you to ask yourself why would any elected official be so reckless and incompetent to place our National interest, treasury and lives of our family to be controlled, dictated, and determined by a insolvent foreign 'government' and not our own?
I have lost count of your ever evolving rationalizations and excuses for the occupation of Iraq but I suspect in the deepest recess of your mind you know it was a horrific mistake. Do you know how many California servicemen and women have been killed due to your vote? Not providing that information by your website or office shows it is not a priority to you.
I have long lost any respect for you as you have failed as my representative and you do not represent the majority of this district nor 70% of Americans who demand a corrective measure and ending this disaster. Please save yourself the time to respond with Petreus surge adjustment tripe. You have lost any credibility from me and therefore garner no trust.
Vote after vote you have violated your oath to office to protect the constitution. By your personal vote your actions have personally and directly supported and enabled torture, suspension of habeas corpus, rendition programs, and abdicating the Constitution allowing this incompetent administration to ignore the fourth amendment with illegal wiretapping and data mining of American citizens.
With your excuses and rationalizations intact I suspect you will dismiss this correspondence as you have with others in the past. However, on this fifth anniversary of your disgraceful vote it is important for the sake of democracy, and not the position you have failed, that my voice be heard.
Dan R.
Too harsh? Probably. Rude? I do not, today, care about my manners. I have been trying for sometime to get people in the MSM or decision makers to explain the obvious. How appropriate is it for us to have others determine our safety, security, treasury, and soldiers? How sound is it for an insolvent impotent paper government determine our destiny? It is madness.
