He's resigning! He's not resigning!
He's leaving! He's not leaving! And now...
Larry and Suzanne Craig agree to primetime interview
Sen. Larry Craig will sit down with Matt Lauer of NBC News for what is billed an "exclusive and wide-ranging" interview about the accusations that he was trolling for sex in the men's room when a plainclothes cop arrested him in June at Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport.
The interview with Craig and his wife, Suzanne, will be broadcast next Tuesday at 8 p.m. ET.
And there's more...
Craig will also be striking his famous wide stance that night in an interview with hometown station KTVB:
The interviews are set to take place Tuesday, and will air on KTVB that evening, with the local interview by Mark Johnson during a KTVB News Special at 6:00pm, and the national interview with Matt Lauer set for 7:00pm.
Go, Larry! Remember: The more you explain, the more people will start to understand! Don't listen to naysayers and boohooers like Idaho Gov. Butch Otter, who finally abandoned all pretense of not throwing you under the bus:
Question: Can you think of a time when Idaho has truly been through anything like what we've through since Craig announced and the story was broken about his guilty plea?"
Answer: No, it would be tough. I mean, obviously there are natural disasters - the Teton Dam, some of the fires that we went through this summer - but nothing that seems so controlled at one time, then out of control - the landscape changed every day.
You hear that, Larry? They're comparing you to a natural disaster. The only way you can clear your name is to get out there and explain, explain, explain.
Sen. Craig, your party needs you! Make them understand that. Even if it means you have to have to go on every talk show in America up until the 2008 election.
(And for God's sake, keep your feet on the ground when you're talking to that Matt Lauer. He's a wily one.)
