Olbermann just accused the loud-mouthed, long-legged venom-spitting Ann Coulter of being an anti-Semite because of her interview with Donny Deutsch on "The Big Idea."
Here's what she said:
"We just want the Jews to be perfected." http://www.youtube.com/...
Now, just so we're clear on what anti-Semitism is, here is Webster's definition:
- Hostility of prejudice towards Jews or Judaism. 2. Discrimination against Jews.
Now, any true follower of a religion believes it to be the "Truth" with a capital "T," otherwise why would they live their lives by such strict ideology? There are a few people who feel like all religions lead to some kind of personal spiritual enlightenment, but, if you truly believe in a God, then you typically believe that there is one true way in which that God desires to be worshipped, served, whatever.
A Christian normally believes that only baptised members of their religion will have the opportunity to be "saved." If you're not a Christian, try to imagine that you truly feel that Jews, Muslims, and others, do not have the hope of salvation. If you're a humanist at all under those circumstances, you want all of those people to be Christian--the only true hope for humanity, as you see it.
Obviously, this does not mean that Jews, or any other religion, should be persecuted, discriminated against, or even looked down upon. Many Christians are guilty of this, I realize, but I don't think that Ann Coulter's comments in this instance constitute anything more than traditional Christian ideology.
I'm sure, however, this will be the last time I ever defend Coultergiest. I hope...
