The economy is booming. For the top 1%. This is the same top 1% bush calls his "base". Yes the same top 1% that owns most of the the military-industrial complex, big oil, the traditional media that sold the americans the occupation of iraq and the ones that received 50% of the tax cut when bush stormed the white house in 2001. the same top 1% continues to blossom per our own IRS via Reuters and Yahoo news yesterday:
The richest one percent of Americans earned a postwar record of 21.2 percent of all income in 2005, up from 19 percent a year earlier, reflecting a widening income disparity among different classes in the nation, the Wall Street Journal reported, citing new Internal Revenue Service data.
The data showed that the fortunes of the bottom 50 percent of Americans are worsening, with that group earning 12.8 percent of all income in 2005, down from 13.4 percent the year before, the paper said.
It said that while the IRS data goes back only to 1986, academic research suggests that the last time wealthy Americans had such a high percentage of the national income pie was in the 1920s.
The article cited an interview with President Bush, who attributed income inequality to "skills gaps" among various classes. It said the IRS didn't identify the source of rising income for the affluent, but said a boom on Wall Street has likely played a part.

This same 1% was given 50% of the tax cut when bush first took office. Bush turned a Clinton budget surplus into a deficit in his first year. And then took us into an occupation that will cost our children 1 trillion dollars. We haven’t paid for the war, we just have borrowed the money from japan and china to be repaid by our children. That tax cut for the rich must be rescinded. Since They support bush and the war, let them pay for it. Call it a war tax and retax these top 1%.
Once the progressives take over:
- downsize the military so that the us military budget is no longer greater than the sum total of all other military budgets in the world.
- give the people health care as good as the french have.
- make college education affordable for the masses as was done after WWII.
- break up or control the monopolistic corporations that have taken control of our lives.
- join the rest of the world in search of global solutions for global problems: global warming, alternative energy, world hunger, and disease.
we have seen what the rich do when they have unlimited power--get richer. its time for a roosevelt revolution.
