Senator
Harry Reid of Nevada is in the midst of speaking from the Senate floor for hours and hours to protest "the 'rank amateur' leadership of the Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist, R-Tennessee." Reid started talking around 1 this afternoon, and he's still at it.
Frist intends to hijack the Senate for 30 hours to highlight Democrats filibustering on a handful of judicial nominees. The Democrats have approved the overwhelming majority of Bush's nominees, yet the GOP leadership seems to think any opposition is unfair.
I just caught Reid on C-Span earlier tonight, calmly reading from a book he wrote about his Nevada hometown, "Searchlight: The Camp That Didn't Fail" book into the record.
Reid is a Democratic fighter. When George Bush impugned the patriotism of Democratic Senators during the debate over Homeland Security in 2002, Reid was the lone Democrat who stood up to him.
We've got to support Senator Reid. Don't let him battle the Republicans alone. We need to shout out about how the Republicans are destroying the deliberative process and abusing their majority power in the Senate. This country is evenly divided, but the majority party is acting like they own the country and can do with it however they please, brooking no dissent. Let's do our research, and let's get the word out.
