A little while ago, I wrote a largely ignored diary about my friend Jake. You can read the full story here:

Basically, Jake started a political consulting company with a friend and it did really well during the last election cycle. Unfortunately, Jake left the company when he found out his friend (the "owner") was donating corporate money to Mitt Romney. Yah, I was pretty fucking proud of him, too.
Anyway, Jake put all of his energies into building a new company that suits him better than that. A wine company that donates 50% of all profits to charity. So far, he's been able to donate over $20000 and the company is less than a year old. The company is named Hope Wine.
I've known Jake since 3rd grade. He's always been a good friend, and has always lent a hand to anyone needing help. He truly believes that he is creating a blueprint for other luxury-based companies to follow in the future and all it takes is creativity to create a company that is both profitable and charitable.
Jake's efforts have not gone unnoticed. He was recently named a finalist in BusinessWeek's top 25 entrepreneurs under 25. You can help him to receive the kind of recognition he and his business plan deserve by freeping the heck out of their poll. He is #15 of 28 and is the only one with a charity-based company. The poll is at the last page.
