This is exciting news: Chap Petersen--Democratic candidate for the Virginia State Senate--has a new television ad up!
It's a devastating example of the right way to use negative advertising. It's a factual critique of Jeannemarie Devolites-Davis' record on transportation issues (issues critical to Northern Virginia these days); it is cool, clinical, to the point, and it steers clear of personal attacks.
You can view the ad here.
Especially telling is the fact that JMDD has a bad habit of skipping the meetings of the Northern VA Transportation Commission.
Can you imagine being a Virginia State Senator from Northern Virginia and skipping 22 out of 30 meetings of the Northern VA Transportation Commission? This includes one meeting missed during a vacation she took that was paid for by a developer!!!
As someone somewhere else said: this is a golden opportunity to strike at the heart of the pay-to-play wing of the Republican Party. JMDD is the (much) better looking half of the husband and wife team of Congressman Tom Davis and State Senator Jeannemarie Devolites-Davis. These two collect tens of thousands of dollars every year shaking down lobbyists for access to Congressman Davis and his congressional stationary. You can read more about that here.
Television time ain't cheap folks, and if you want to keep this ad on the television in Northern Virginia, you need to step up and contribute. A really convenient place to do that is at Raising Kaine's ActBlue page, which you can find here.
If you are itching to take a crack at a corrupt Republican, then this is the appropriate time, place and manner.
