Silly of me, Ms. Winograd, I know you have.
I was a CA-36er when you decided you had enough last year,
and challenged Jane Harman.
I tabled, phone banked, stapled signs, posted diaries, and more importantly, met my neighbors, and found out just how deeply they were concerned about Bush's Iraq folly, eroding civil liberties, bankrupting health care costs, and the frightening power of corporatists in our political life.
Basically, I got my first glimpse of honest, grassroots democracy-
I can't imagine, Marcy, the toll a Congressional campaign takes.
I know you took the challenge on willingly, and at great personal expense,
because of your values, your ideals, and your patriotism.
Your lifelong resume of progressive activism uniquely qualifies you for a seat in the people's house, yet I fully understand the many reasons why you would decline.
(too often, I question whether or not the inmates are running the asylum)
I think it's more than apparent, given the recent attitude and actions of Rep. Harman, that she holds different beliefs.
Your name has come up frequently here, your husband still posts more regularly than myself, (which probably, unfortunately, is not saying much) the netroots, DailyKos, have recognized what you have accomplished.
I'm keeping this short-
I'm just here to let you know you're still needed,
now more than ever,
in whatever capacity you are able or willing to serve.
And to ask my fellow Kossacks their thoughts.
Sincerely,
Ozzie
