Sit back and relax, gonna share with you a link to some great videos of New Orleans. I was surfing the NOLA blogs, and came cross this at the wild and irreverent gentilly girl (who, by the way, is one of the best ranters I have ever beheld).
Harry Shearer has made a wonderful series of videos at his cool site, my damn channel. With great piano music as background and really nice filming, he gives us an intimate look at the wonderful wounded city of New Orleans.
Makes me wish I were there ... right now. Join me below the flip.
I encourage everyone to click on the link and go check this site out. It has other videos as well about New Orleans, including one showing Katie Couric getting all gussied up for the cameras and making cracks about her "Dan Rather" moment.
We are often asked not to forget New Orleans. That ought to be as much for our sakes as for those who live there and those who are still yearning to come back, not to mention the all too many homeless folks living in tents with no hope in sight, a shameful situation over two years after the federal flood.
We should remember New Orleans for our own sakes. It's a place where joy and love has a rhythm and music all its own, it welcomes folks from all over the world and opens its arms to share those treasures.
And for lagniappe, a little video, something I've posted before, but it's worth doing so again, Clint Maedgen with the Preservation Hall Jazz Band:
If that don't make you want to jump and shout, you ain't alive!
Remember New Orleans. For all of us.
