The Internet is supposed to be the bastion of liberalism- a haven for people who are, well, not backwards conservatives.
Such isn't the case in the great state of Kansas.
I just wanted to give you all a taste of what one of our freshmen D, Nancy Boyda, has to face- coming from wingnuts in her own backyard.
While there are thousands of blogs spread 'cross the tubes that spew vitriol at liberals for not picking up and moving to Canada, or, heaven forbid, France, my local colleagues on the other side certainly take the cake for being both CRAAAZY right wing and just plain offensive, rude, picaresque- hell, any synonym for "mean" you can come up with- with a great deal of their acidic hate directed at my congresswoman, Nancy Boyda.
Of course, I read them all daily.
The worse, by far, is a blog called Stay Red Kansas, to which I am a subscriber (of course). They've figuratively "jumped the shark" loads of times, but, today, it's possibly they even reached a new low of baselessness
First off, this particular R attacks my Congresswoman for her most "celebrated" moment of her tenure thus far- her "walk out" of a briefing by retired General Jack Keane. Now, personally, Ithink Boyda was spot on with her assessment of Gen. Keane's remaks- he was likening Iraq to a place we all might want to take a vacation- and that Republicans need to look at the big picture when it comes to Iraq and do what's needed to bring our men and woman home.
'Course, the Republican partisans in Kansas have had a field day with that, saying Boyda "can't stand good news" coming from Iraq. No, folks, what Rep. Boyda can't stand is false hope and lies.
Next thing this poster rips Boyda about is the fact she has not participated in the D-trip's "Frontline" program, but still accepted money from certain Frontline donors- saying that that makes her a "liar." Again, not so much- anyone who has looked at Boyda's fundraising reports can see she isn't getting nearly the amount of money the Frontline folks are and, besides, Boyda has maintained from day 1 she planned to stay independent of the control of the DCCC and their "you must run your campaign this way" sort of attitude. She's doing just that- exactly what her voters expect of her.
Finally, in reference to her being a liar, and in the most offensive bit of the post, the blogger says this:
Well, maybe that explains her strange presentation on the floor of the House last week preaching to the people of Kansas and the Nation reading printing excerpts from her Bible.

Repent as you will, Nancy - look for guidance from above. Even God cannot stop your inevitable defeat next November. I, for one, hope you rented in Washington...I know some guys that can sublease.
Partisan politics is one thing- I promise you I'm a yellow dog Democrat- but we must be civil and we must, at the very least, present claims that are supported by unbiased facts. Nothing substantive was addressed in that post, just personal attacks and misrepresentations. Our democracy, and particularly the KS-02, deserves better than that.
